Time Dilation - A medley of immortally, electrifying, sonic gems assembled to manipulate time and secure a permanent space in your record box. Drivetrain’s ‘This Toxic Tempest‘ starts the clock with a classic Detroit-Tronic wave of pads and beats accompanied by the unconscious spoken word of poet/vocalist Goddess Stephanie.
CloudMasterWeed’s ‘Love’ showcases impassioned vocal samples atop a thunderous bass with keyboard melodies sprinkled throughout in abysmal syncopation. J Garcia’s ‘Fireside Warm-Up’ is finely tuned deepness with no compromise to the dance floor. An apprentice to the masters of authentic Detroit electronic soul, Garcia has come of age.
With their debut release, the dual Jay Ramsey and Jennifer Xerri comprise In2itive Motion. ‘Subliminal’ is a smooth expedition through the deep channels of audio seduction. Time stands still as rumbling subs cut through rich chords.

Tonight at 24:00 (+2 GMT) is Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe podcast with a guest mix by Passarella Death Squad .Better known as one of London’s top cult clothing designers, Passarella Death Squad’s music is a diverse combination of contemporary electronica and haunting beautiful songs.
The musical arm of Passarella Death Squad is the result of a wide range of influences from classic artists such as Cocteau Twins, PIL and The Velvet Underground through to more recent visionaries such as LFO, DJ Hell and label boss (ex Micronaut) George Issakidis which results in a hugely individual sound.
Passarella Death Squad’s songs unrelentingly penetrate and awaken our deepest, darkest sexual psyche with knee grinding bass driven throbs and French vocalist Emilie Albisser’s vocals that makes one think of a 21st century Marlene Dietrich.
Engineered by Death in Vegas man Tim Holmes, the songs sound like the intoxicating feeling of breathtaking desire tightly laced with tension for seriously addictive music that slips deeper into your mind with every listen.
It’s no wonder Passarella Death Squad are enjoying support from the likes of James Holden, Tiga, Optimo, Chloé and Trevor Jackson.

Air Rage is Ben Sims’ first record for Drumcode since last year's Smoke & Mirrors LP. Mostly, it's a record which pursues the same consistent grooves that the imprint favours so highly, but with a few detours along the way. For instance, near the middle of "Move in Time," something like a grimy trance lead arcs suddenly overhead, briefly stealing the focus before Sims drops things heavily back into place."The Parade" opts for a more lopsided cadence, stomping menacingly forward like a infantry column. 8-bit notes swarm over this foundation like bees on a hive, overwhelming with sheer numbers rather than individual power.
On the flip, "Machine Funk" sees Sims puts all his eggs in one basket, concentrating almost solely on a ringing, metallic sequence which is suspended halfway between melody and percussion. It's entrancing enough that the simplicity of the track's basic structure hardly registers. Last, the title track heaves with rage, positioning 4/4 bamboo-on-concrete claps under a taut, bassy synth. The former propels the track along, while the latter shreds it to pieces with furious intensity, shimmying through a lengthy sequence like a convulsing electrical wire. At its core, Air Rage isn't a major departure from Drumcode's canon. It's still extremely functional, extremely big room and somewhat anthemic. But by dint of Sims' unusual timbres, it's one of the label's most interesting singles from the past few years.

It is Tuesday the 15th of May and today there is a new guest on the CLR Podcast. Paul Rose is best known for his Scuba alias which has yielded three albums since 2008, the most recent of which, Personality was released in February. He's also the head of the revered Hotflush label, which has covered a huge amount of musical ground, from proto-Dubstep (Benga, Distance) to abstract electronica (Mount Kimbie, Sepalcure) via house and techno (Joy Orbison, Sigha), since it's first release in 2003.
Originally the SCB project was conceived as an antidote to the characteristic broken beats of the Scuba sound, as was shown on the first SCB release, a remix of Scuba's own Hard Boiled taken from the album A Mutual Antipathy in 2008. The next few years saw the projects begin to converge, and by 2011 the two had almost become the same thing, with the releases of Loss (as SCB) and Adrenalin (as Scuba) both featuring a dancefloor-centric melodic house vibe.
With the release of the aforementioned Personality album the Scuba project has moved on to a different sound, and 2012 also heralds a new direction for SCB with a much more stripped-down, direct techno approach apparent in a recent remix for the Last Night On Earth label confirmed by forthcoming mixes for Echochord, Convex Industries and Hotflush (all featured on this podcast for CLR). New original SCB material is due later this year on Boddika's Non Plus label and also the continuation of the SCB release series.
