Ultrasound_Hosted by Rob John (UK)
It was blatantly obvious to Rob John that this house music thing would be with him for a long time to come. Since his first introduction to the underground scene at the tender age of 14 he was hooked to the point of no return. Hailing from the ghetto’s of Blackpool, a popular seaside town in the Northwest of England once renowned by UK clubland but now more known for being somewhere to go for cheap music, cheap drinks and cheap girls he decided at the age of 21 to spread his wings and venture out into the big wide world.
With stints in Chester, London, Manchester and now residing in Novi Sad, Serbia he has been fortunate to DJ with and witness some of the best and underground DJ’s and clubbing on offer. He remembers the days very well when his crew wouldn’t think twice about jumping in their cars and driving for hours just to go and hear the likes of Lee Burridge, Craig Richards, Terry Francis, Layo and Bushwacka, Dave Angel, Jay Tripwire, Colin Dale to name a few, all of whom have been a big inspiration to him.
He has dj’d in bars, clubs, warehouses, an underground air raid bunker, on boats, illegal raves and even at a wedding “but we won’t talk about that haha” he says. Now nearly 20 years on he is still collecting records, still playing parties and still very much into the new music and talent that is slowly filtering through all the bullshit disposable music that now manifests the global EDM scene.

His djing style is driven by a continuous deep and funky groove that can be heard in his mixing but he also likes to throw in a few obscurities to give his sets an edge and keep his listeners interested. He has a record collection covering many different genres from dub, techno, breakbeat, acid-house, DnB and is looking forward to incorporating these alternative styles that he does not normally get to play out into his radio show on ViaSound Radio.
After a short time out of the djing game Rob says “ I’m currently dusting off and rediscovering all my old records that I have collected over the years and am really looking forward to putting them back to work. With upcoming gigs in London, his new country of residence Serbia and a biweekly show on ViaSound.gr online radio station he has certainly got enough to keep him busy.
