PINCH (UK)

The offspring of arch-innovator, Pinch, Tectonic has become one of the most revered imprints working in and around dubstep, housing albums from Cyrus, 2562 and Pinch himself alongside high profile technoid 12”s from Skream and Benga, 140bpm excursions from Flying Lotus and deeper work from Joker and Jack Sparrow. Constantly pushing the sound towards the deeper end of the spectrum, Pinch’s label has never confined itself simply to one style, choosing instead to harness the low end and stark drum patterns so engrained in dubstep, in a plethora of different ways.
OPTIV (UK)

That every cause has an effect is common knowledge. For Optiv, Stuart and Mark, the cause is drum & bass, and their effect is both indelible and undeniable. Known collectively as Cause 4 Concern, the crew came together back at the start of 1999, when Optiv was affiliated with Aspect Records, and Stuart and Mark were working for Vinyl Distribution. A testament to their talent, it took only a few short months of collaborative creation before they scored their first signing – and not just to any old label – but the massive and seminal Moving Shadow. At the time they were known as nCode, but soon become Cause 4 Concern and started their own imprint label. Recently reformed after a few years of inactivity, 2009 sees Cause 4 Concern return to wreak havoc with their first full length album. Spread over five separate 12”s to be followed by a double CD, Pandemic picks up right where the lads left off – the leading edge of electronic music. All of the elements that made them one of the most exciting and entertaining production posses in drum ‘n’ bass remain intact, and are both refined and reinforced. Infection is imminent. Prepare for the Pandemic.
BREAK (UK)
Symmetry / DNAudio / Critical / Shogun Audio
Acquiring a love for the breakbeat through jazz and funk records, Break took to the drums at a young age, learning piano along the way and taking to the turntables at the age of fourteen. A talented musician with a wide range of influences, Break looks to push the barriers in whatever he’s doing. Crisp breaks, heavy bass and strong melody are stable marks of his productions making him a firm favourite with a variety of the scenes top DJs.
Break hooked up with the DNAudio crew back in 2001 after meeting Squire through mutual friends. Since then he has played an important role in the label’s expansion, working closely with Silent Witness in developing a fresh & devastating new sound. DJ A-Sides was quick to sign Break’s debut, Cocktail for the ‘East Side Jamz 2’ LP and wasted no time releasing his first solo twelve, ‘Sticky Situation’, the ‘Breakout EP’ and a string of other singles.
His partnership with Silent Witness lead to releases on No U Turn and since then Break hasn’t looked back. As one of the most prolific producers in the scene, long hours in the studio have lead to outings on East Side, Fuze, Commercial Suicide, Quarantine, Critical, Invaderz, Explicit, Subtitles, Metalheadz, Levitated, Shadow Law and DNAudio; all building on Break’s reputation as one of the drum & bass’ hottest new talents. As well as now working closely with Fierce and with singer Kyo in the studio, Break's busy DJ schedule sees him play across the UK and Europe several times a month, with every set being crammed full of killer fresh dubs blended seamlessly with underground classics.
Don't miss tonight Darkroom Dubs Radio, where Silicone Soul have a special guest, Steve Rachmad. He is a Dutch techno producer, DJ and remixer. By many, he is considered a father of Detroit techno in the Netherlands, respected in the world of electronic music for his deep, groovy sounds that tend to rest on impressive strings, melodies, funk and soul. His career has been reaching its highest peaks from 1996 up to the present time. Yet, it is somewhat less known that he has been in the music realms for over 25 years by now.
Steve’s life story starts in Amsterdam. At the age of 12, teenage Steve already starts buying his first records: to mix, remix, and cut-and-paste their parts with an open reel tape deck. In such a cut-and-paste fashion, he presented his first release in the mid-1980s. Among these early releases was also the one created for a hip-house/dance artist Tony Scott.
From that time on, Steve finds his inspiration in the 1980s dance and electro, works of former Time members (Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis), The System, Arthur Baker, to name but a few. At the age of 15, he also starts his DJing career with a disco set in a small Amsterdam club. Nevertheless, his love for music urges him to start buying equipment, which would later result in a professional studio that is, according to him, “everything he ever dreamt of having.” Today, his equipment is mainly analogue, providing him with a chance to explore the realms of warm, alive, non-static sounds. He laid the corner stone of this collection in 1985, by getting a TR-808.
A year later, Steve gets introduced to the house music. His attention is captured by the new sounds echoing mostly from Detroit and Chicago, i.e. by the work of artists such as Mr. Fingers and Derrick May. Following their style, Steve’s own style takes a new direction. He is soon to be found releasing for artists like Darren Emerson and Derrick May.
The incoming years are to be marked by numerous successful releases on labels such as 100% Pure, Cocoon, Underwater, Fragile, M-Plant, Tresor, and the recent years on labels as Sino, Delsin, Music Man, Artless, etc. He also made over a hundred remixes, signed under various pseudonyms. He remixed a variety of artists, from Taksi, Derrick May and John Tejada, to Armand van Helden, Club MCM, Armin van Buuren, Seven Grand Housing Authority, Victor Calderone and Basement Jaxx. Among Steve’s most respected releases is certainly his album “Secret Life of Machines,” which came out in 1996 under his pseudonym Sterac, and is up to this date considered as one of the all-time techno classics. About the same time his DJing path starts rapidly evolving as well. Until today, Steve shares his talent with the crowds all over the World. He occasionally spins disco and electro, but mainly techno.
Of all the fictitious names he used throughout his career to sign his productions, the ones that remained until today are Sterac, Sterac Electronics, Ignacio and Parallel 9. In the later years, he also releases more and more under his real name. The history of remixes continues into the present, including a variety of people, such as M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade, DK7, Clashing Egos, Sweet Coffee, Infinity (Juan Atkins vs Orlando Voorn), etc. In the latest years, next to his characteristic techno sound, he also actively focuses on electro, stripping it down to the old-school feel. His Sterac Electronics remixes of the vocal track Love Sweet Love (by Clashing Egos), Keep on Running (by Sweet Coffee) and Body Language (by M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade), and his own “Keep on running” and “Night Heat” releases on Music Man Records have ended up in the record bags of a wide variety of artists, from techno, to minimal, house and electro. He re-confirms his reputation as an artist with exquisite ear for technical qualities of sound, always returning to his soulful roots and maintaining the warmth of analogue-produced music.
Over the years, Steve lost the count of his productions and remixes. However, he built an oeuvre that is without a doubt of a high magnitude: both quality and quantity-wise. Unfortunately, his busy DJ schedule puts a limit on the time he would like to spend in his studio. Yet, he strives for the balance that would satisfy his enormous artistic appetite and potential. His devotion to his dreams and inspirations drives him safely into the successful future.

We are proud to present to you our newest addition on ViaSound web radio. Every month Softcore will be transmitting "Aural Vibrations" with the intention to move you! Tune in tonight and every second Tuesday of the month at 20:00 (+2 GMT) and enjoy!

Softcore is Theodor G., born in Athens, Greece in September of 1977. He showed his interest in music at an early age by listening to various (and sometimes contradictional) genres of music - including classic rock, early punk-hard rock-metal, rap, hip-hop, new metal and early RnB - and later on by studying anything related to music, composition and production.
At schoolyears he took up guitar lessons which didn't last long because his dream always was to produce a complete music piece from scratch and not just playing an instrument!
Later on, the 90s caught him partying and getting into the - what was then called - "rave scene". Technological achievements were always his other passion and along with that he was always fascinated by digital forms of art!
So it only makes sense that nowadays ,Theodor is creating his own musical pieces based on electronic-dance music with a mixture from old style house, new tech beats, minimalistic structures and dark atmospheres! He is considered by more than a few a "perfectionist" regarding the quality of the final production and he is well known for his -almost obsessive- attention to detail when it comes to sound engineering.
2009 finds Softcore more active than ever, having his tracks "Rokit" and "Immaculate" released, and at the start of 2010, he releases his debut EP "Tamahagane", which receives supportive comments from many DJs around the globe such as Fernando Ferreyra (Argentina), George G. (Greece), Herc Kass (Australia), Sasha Le Monnier (UK), Placid (Germany) and many more.
There is definitely more music planned to hit the dancefloors from Softcore in the near future, so stay tuned!!!

Check out Monday night at 20:00 (+2 GMT) Adreas Zead with “ViaSound
Rules” and a special episode.
You must definitely not miss that one, since the first hour will be all about Dave Angel.
He is one of the most influential techno pioneers since the late 80s, with a remarkable career and we are thrilled to host this wicked mix that he granted us.
The second hour is a tribute to Atlante Group, a label which he discovered while
searching for the next best tracks to include in his sets. They feature his favorite tunes, a fusion of Detroit techno with uplifting melodies, but with dark bass as well.
See you there!
